African American women are accustomed to being statistical leaders in society. We are some of the highest achievers in education, civic involvement, and the workforce. Unfortunately, we and our loved ones are also the statistical leaders in some of the deadliest health epidemics. Far too often, we sacrifice our own well-being in service to the needs of our family and friends, to meet the demands of our career, and to deal with societal issues.
