2021 College Scholarships

2021 College Scholarship Awards

The Portland Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Piedmont Rose Connection Inc. offers scholarships to deserving African-American female and male high school seniors from Oregon and southwest Washington. Applicants must plan to pursue higher education at a four-year institution leading to a degree in a profession or applied science. Applicants must have an overall grade point average of 3.00 or above. Click here to download the scholarship application.

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  1. An official, unopened transcript.

  2. Two recommendations from a teacher, counselor, or school administrator.

  3. A student essay sharing what the student is most proud of that has been accomplished during their high school years.

  4. A personal statement not to exceed 300 words. This is an opportunity for the student to share why they are requesting the scholarship.

  5. Current headshot photo (professional senior photo size 4x5, 4x6, or 5x7 preferred).

 

Letters of recommendation should indicate courses taken, achievement in the area of interest, the student’s leadership qualities, awards, perseverance, extracurricular and community activities. The scholarship committee will base its selection on evaluation of the transcript, letters of recommendation, student essay, and completeness of the application.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:  POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN MONDAY, APRIL 12, 2021.

APPLICATIONS POSTED AFTER APRIL 12, 2021 WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

Scholarship honorees will be announced and all applicants will be notified of their status in May 2021.

 

PLEASE NOTE:  YOU MUST PLAN TO ATTEND A FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY AS A FULL-TIME STUDENT IN THE FALL AND PROVIDE PROOF OF ENROLLMENT FROM THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE TO RECEIVE THIS AWARD.
